HydroCo keeping its clients in Suspense

Melbourne-based HydroCo is about to release an innovative new aquatic concept called Suspense.

With its design said to have been provoked by concerns about water consumption in many countries, plus the safe and hygienic use of communal aquatic systems, Suspense is a free-standing modular aquatic centre suitable for a range of different locations.

Uses can include floatation experiences - complemented by mud or seaweed masks, aroma and color therapy - for spa goers, or energetic, low impact exercise programs for the fitness enthusiast. It also has health and medical applications.

Suspense uses about 5 gallons (20ltr) of water per session - the water being drawn from storage tanks provided - and can be operated from either outside and inside the booth. The level of the water can be adjusted at any time, with temperature controlled water ranging from 70F (21C) to 100.4F (38C).

The booth's glass walls provide a clear view from both inside and outside and there are four viewing windows to allow supervision by an instructor.

Following an exercise session, the booth is emptied and the water transferred back into the storage tanks. A fold-down seat is provided for users showering off inside the unit, the shower water being drained directly to the waste.

In addition to aquatic exercise, Suspense is ideal for total relaxation and general wellness treatments. The bather steps into a full-body 'Aqualiner', which is attached to a floatation ring. Muds, seaweeds, moisturisers or medicants can be applied to the bather's body, these being contained by the liner to avoid contaminating the water in the booth. Fluids such as sea or spring water can also be used in it.

The water level in the booth is then raised to a level that floats the bather. A combination of thermal transfer and heavy compression is transferred directly onto the body, the water temperature within the booth enhancing the infusion of the product.

Dry floatation is also possible, with a bather - either fully or partially clothed - being protected from the water by the liner.

Suspense occupies an area of 14ft x 11.6ft/4.3m x 3.5m and can be dis-assembled and relocated at any time.
